I can't eat veggie dogs, not dogs, nothing else that doesn't taste like anything. These Tofurky products by Turtle Island Foods, tofurky.com [tofurky.com], are "the shit," so to speak.

Try "Chick Nuggets" from Morningstar Farms. If you like chicken nuggets you'll love these. Even more! The corn dogs aren't bad either.

Sounds delicious... but I'm still torn about the whole soy findings, overall...

Nikname-0,
what it do?
are you worried about your breasts getting too large?
or you don't really wanna get rid of hot flashes?
Granted you are concerned that soy mimics estrogen.

Yes on all three j/k, but most importantly the last part. :P i remember a thread on imminst where the high powers that be, with all the conflicting soy researches, suggest that it'd be best to avoid them, or if you fit into one of these parameters and i quote:
  • Infants: AVOID SOY.
  • Men: generally avoid soy but a little tofu isn't going to be fatal.
  • Women: ?may be OK.
  • People of asian [ancestry] may be in a different category from others.
  • Fermented soy products may be different from non.
  • Soy supplements are probably the worst IMHO.
  • Soy is very hard to digest and gives many people gas.
  • Soy is a very common allergen.
I'd probably eat the soy food if it were fermented.
(been itchy to utilize this html part of bbcodextra add-on. pretty useful!)

Soybean Oil aka Common Vegetable Oil should also be avoided by everybody.

I found this when I googled dangers of soy.
There was quite a bit, but this site seems to be based upon it.
(which always makes me skeptical)
soyonlineservice.co.nz [soyonlineservice.co.nz]

I had never heard any of this either, and I know they still reccomend soy based formulas here in the US when an infant is allergic to milk, so I was surprised as I did more digging.
soyinfo.com/dangers.shtml [soyinfo.com/dangers.shtml]
roex.com/Articles/dangerofsoylinks.htm [roex.com/Articles/dangerofsoylinks.htm]

Thanks for the heads up, I'll absolutely do more reading about it, as I was currently beginning to implement more into my family's diet.

I have heard a lot about soy, both good and bad, and it will be interesting to read all these links - v useful and thanks!

Are you all in the States? Can you get Quorn products there? .. I tend to buy all their stuff (Linda McCartney products are fine, if a bit too salty, but I think they are soy based), and I think it is a much better product than soy based substitutes - especially with taste.

I haven't got an answer on the milk thing - I get organic cows milk, but none of us have a milk allergy.

Cooking oil - always olive!
